We Wish To Welcome Arthur Huffstutler and Fred Schwartz to the Police Department.
All Three Offices in the Village Hall have a new coat of paint and a fresher color for the employee work environment. The Clerk's Office, Police Chief's Office and Police Station are looking great! The paint was purchased by the village but the painting work was donated by Village Trustee Nancy Kurpaitis.
Village Curfew Reminder - Parents be reminded that there is a curfew in the Village for those less than 17 years of age. Curfew hours are: Sunday --Thursday 9:00 p.m. , Friday & Saturday 10:00 p.m. THE CURFEW WILL BE ENFORCED.
SENIOR DAY is going great and will continue until late fall. Senior day is designed for those 55 and older and is held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Village Hall meeting room. For more information, call Nancy at 725-1434.
Sidewalk Repair Program is underway. Resident pays half; village pays half. For more information, call Trustee Sam Wyke at 729-2963.
A special "Thank You" to VCA Animal Hospital, Hammes Ave., Joliet for their continuous help and support in vaccinating & placing homeless animals that have been found in the village.
Dogs are important to many residents and walking them is a great past time, but please remember to pick up after your pets as a common courtesy to your neighbors!
Will County Animal Control has asked the Village to remind residents that animal bites from any pet or wild animal MUST BE REPORTED TO THEIR OFFICE. Phone number for reporting is 462-5633.
Illinois Bureau Of Animal Welfare states that every owner MUST PROVIDE for his/her animals: CONTINUOUS, quality food & water and sufficient shelter & protection from the weather (both heat and cold) that keep them out of the direct sun, rain or cold conditions. Please contact the Police, Clerk's Office or Nancy at 725-1434, if you suspect any abuse/neglect to an animal in the Village. Calls will stay confidential. Help us to help those who can't speak for themselves.
Skunks in our town, a problem for many years, is being successfully addressed by the Village Board. Richard Bailey, a professional trapper, is working with the Village to catch and humanely remove the skunks from town. The work is already underway and if you have a persistent problem with skunks or have a question, call the Clerk's Office at 725-8937.
Business Registration is now the law in Rockdale and every business will be required to register on an annual basis. The yearly registration fee of $10 has been waived for the remainder of 1998. Businesses will be contacted by mail and/or in person and should be registered by the end of July. Forms are available in the Clerk's Office. For more information call the clerks office at 725-8937.
A Bicycle Safety Program hosted by the Chief of Police will be held on June 8th, 9:00a.m. at the Rockdale Grade School. Topics will include Rules of the Road for bicycles and rollerblades as well as Bicycle Safety checks. Safety stickers will be issued.
Note: Anyone wanting to register their bikes can do so at the Rockdale Police Department.
Retirement Party! - Retiring from the Rockdale Police Department is: Chief Robert Zivaly after 25 years and Sgt. Robert Wallish after 20 years. The Police Department and Village Board wish them both the best in their retirement and a sincere "Thank-You" for the years in our Village as dedicated and respected Police Officers. In their honor, there will be a retirement party for them at the Village Hall on June 6th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Let's all show them our appreciation by wishing them the best at the party! Refreshments will be served.
The Rockdale Village Board, Police Department, and Fire Department would like to wish everyone a happy and safe summer in the months ahead.
