The Rockdale Review

NEWS & EVENTS 1999-2

Welcome to new Village employee John Hamilton who joined the Street Department recently. Also a warm welcome to the new owners of the J&M Food Mart – Sameh Masood and Ahmad Masood.

A concern of the Village is extended to our residents. Manhole covers have been removed from various Village locations. We believe this to be a one-time prank, however, if you see suspicious activity near the street manholes, please call the Police at 725-2171 so those responsible for this potentially dangerous act can be stopped.

Illinois Bureau Of Animal Welfare states that every owner must provide for his/her animals: continuous, quality food & water and sufficient shelter & protection that keep them out of the direct sun, rain or cold conditions. Please contact the Police if you suspect any abuse/neglect.

Village Leash laws have been in effect for many years. A dog must be contained within a fenced yard, or on a leash/chain. The US Postal Service workers have been experiencing numerous problems with pets trying to attack them. Please make sure your pets cannot reach the area where our local mail carriers leave your mail.

Walking your dog is a fun summer past time, but please remember to pick up any unwanted "gifts" that your pet may have deposited for unsuspecting neighbors.

Senior Day – Please join us at the next Senior day on June 10th.

Memorial Day Parade will be Monday, May 31st at a new kick-off time of 11:30am from the grade school. Participants to include Rockdale FPD, Rockdale School band, American Legion, Joliet Antique Car Club, New Lenox Line dancers, and numerous area Police Departments.

The Fall sale will be August 6th and 7th (Friday & Saturday) from 8:00-3:00pm. Fill out the form in this newsletter and return it with $1.00 to the Village Hall in order to be included in the advertisement lists.
