July
- The Village Board moved forward on
initiating the Lakeview Avenue resurfacing project.
- The Village received notification that a
complaint was filed with the Will County Land Use
Department concerning some older buildings in the Werco
Complex.
- Senior night was held July 20th.
August
° 2000 °
August
- The Village Board inquired on the purchase
of a new backhoe for the Village Street Department.
- School crossing signs were replaced with
newer, brighter signs to improve and provide safe
crossing for the villages school children.
- Final plans were made for the upcoming
Rockdale Fest.
- Village Board agreed to purchase cell
phones for both the street department and the police
department.
- Senior night was held on August 17th.
- Rockdale Police Department Chief Baum
donated old police uniform pants to the Orland Hills
Cadet program.
- A work session was held discussing the
proposed new village hall with architects Russ &
Carlson.
September

September
- The Village Board was awaiting an
inspection report to determine the repairs needed on the
water tower located near the Village Hall.
- Rockdale Festival was held, bringing many
Rockdale residents together to celebrate community unity.
Kids games, car show, food and music were among the
events at the fest.
- Senior night was held on September 17th.
October

October
- The Village Board was informed that the
Joliet Jaycees would be having their "Haunted
House" at the Harwood Post #5 from October 18th
through October 30th. The Proceeds would
benefit local charities.
- Drawings were submitted to the Village
Board to develop and subdivide a 21 acre industrial
parcel on Moen Avenue.
- The Village Board agreed to use a
"Smart Trailer" on loan from the City of Joliet
to track and record traffic counts and patterns on the
newly completed Lakeview Avenue project.
- Senior night was held on October 19th.
November

November
- The Village Board continued its inquiry on
the cost to repair or replace the Villages oldest
water tower located near the Village Hall. The tower is
in need of major leak repairs.
- Reports on the Lakeview Avenue traffic
study were discussed.
- The board was informed by the village
engineer that Joliet Sand and Gravel proposed the
rerouting of Moen Ave. at the S curve.
} Christmas Decoration Contest [
The Village of Rockdale will award prizes to 5
Rockdale residents who display the most creative, holiday
spirited display. So, put up your lights, lawn ornaments, and
favorite holiday scheme. 3 Judges will be out on the weekend of
December 15, 16, 17 to judge your holiday display. You could be
the winner of one of five awards.
